Greetings Eagles! I am excited to introduce myself to you as your Principal! Who is Maria Castillo? I am a native of Marble Falls, a graduate of TWU, and an active athlete! Outside of work, you might find me running, playing soccer, or serving the community by competing in Camp Gladiator! My husband, Joe and I are the proud parents of two active boys and two feisty dogs! You ought to see us trying to balance home and work life! I have always seen the role of the Principal as a privilege and a responsibility. It is a privilege to be able to make a difference in learning. The responsibility is that every student has a right to a high-quality education and to be successful. I want to be a part of that.

I received a lot of mentoring and coaching in my years as a teacher and as an administrator. This has always been crucial to me. My grandmother was a critical role model to me. She had integrity, leadership, and a vision for equity in terms of outcomes for people. She instilled those same values in me, which inspired me to become a Principal. I became an educator because I want to improve the lives of children and the education process. Education is vital to a student's future success in life. I believe a school should be intellectually challenging, motivating, safe, and supportive of students, regardless of their needs. I am a visionary, enthusiastic, supportive leader who will maintain an open-door policy. I believe in firm, but fair discipline. My goal is to do the best job I possibly can as a school administrator, and I think that Salazar is a school where I can contribute and grow in a team-oriented environment.

I believe that Salazar is focused. You have already proven to be flexible. Let's take on the challenges together as a whole!
Let's Go Eagles!
